| A story well worth reading! This story will explain to you why I microchip my puppies and why I think ALL Breeders should be microchipping their puppies! About 2 years ago Kate and Ben Harrington of California purchased a puppy from me. They named her Maddie (Shelby X Norman). About a year ago they decided to get Maddie a playmate so they purchased a lil' boy from me (Maggie X Buddy) and named him Hank. 6 Months ago in September of 2006... Kate and Ben went on vacation and left the dogs with Ben's folks. They have a really nice house and fenced back yard. One day Hank decided to dig his way out underneath the fence. Unfortunately he did not have his collar on. Katie called me very upset that lil' Hank had escaped. She knew he was microchipped and wanted to inform me on what was happening. So after I had talked with her, I called pet trac (a worldwide data base) to inform them that Lil' Hank with avid microchip # 145615293A was lost! They put the information on his number and record. Days and weeks had passed and no Hank. Kate had put up posters, alerted all the close veterinarian's office and humane society and even went to all the neighbors to see if anyone had seen him, BUT no one had. Just the other day Kate had e-mailed me to see if Shelby had an available puppy in her litter, but unfortunately her 3 puppies were already reserved. On March 17, 2007 I had came in from outside and checked my messages. There was a message on my machine from the Modesto California Animal Services saying they had a neutered male jack russell terrier traced back to me by the Avid Microchip Pet Trac Services with microchip #145615293A. She also said that this dog was reported missing in September of 2006! No one can even imagine how ecstatic and thankful I was to hear this wonderful message! With tears in my eyes and so excited I couldn't hardly talk, I immediately called the Animal Services in Modesto to let them know.... YES that is our missing lil' guy and his name is Hank. I gave the Animal Services (Aaron ) the information on Kate and Ben, then I called Kate to let her know the GREAT news! She was ecstatic.... she couldn't believe it! I told her that it is Hank and he is only about 1 hour away from her in Modesto! After giving her the phone numbers to The Animal Services, she said I have to go get him! I am VERY HAPPY to announce that all is well in the Harrington household again! Maddie and Hank are playing together and are BEST BUDS as if nothing has happened and Kate and Ben got their lil' boy back home. I just had to share this very happy ending story with all my friends, puppy parents and visitors! If I can help re unite one of my puppies back to his family, all the microchipping and extra cost is worth every penny! This story is also why I am always a contact person (breeder) on every one of my puppies microchip record. We did'nt think we would ever see Hank again! Back To The Home Page |
